Chhat is a 64-year-old rice farmer. She has two sons, five daughters, and many grandchildren. Sadly, her husband passed away many years ago. Now she lives with her youngest son, while her other children live nearby. When she is not working, she likes to travel around visiting her grandchildren. She also enjoys listening to music on the radio.
Two years ago, Chhat developed a cataract in her left eye causing her blurry vision and sensitivity to light. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chhat learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On September 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Chhat shared, “I have not been able to work much since I got this problem, so I hope my vision gets better and I can go back to work, and help more around the house.”
