Purna is in the sixth grade. Her favorite subject is English, and she wants to become a teacher. She has been suffering with an ovarian cyst for six months, and the pain is now keeping her from her studies. Without surgery, Purna won’t be able to live her reproductive life properly.
Purna lives with her parents, three brothers, and sister in a remote district of Nepal. It took her three days to walk to Nyaya Health’s hospital. Her family has a small piece of land, but it only feeds them for three months out of the year, so they earn extra money by making sickles and other iron equipment. Despite their hard work, they cannot afford Purna’s treatment.

Purna received surgery to remove her ovarian cyst.
Purna’s surgery went well and she is recovering nicely. Now that the cyst has been removed, Purna can continue to grow up without pain or stigma and her doctors are confident that she will be able to have children in the future.
