Moo is a seven-year-old boy from Burma. He has never gone to school because he cannot walk or sit up by himself. His family grows betel nuts and limes. However, due to a landslide during the rainy season last year, all of their crops along with the rest of the villagers’ land were destroyed.
When Moo was two, his head started to gradually increase in size. He has never been able to walk or sit up by himself and he frequently has a headache. His mother said that if he’s exposed directly to the sun, even for a short while, his whole body turns red and the next day he develops a fever.
Doctors want Moo to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Moo’s CT scan and care, scheduled for February 5th.
Moo said, “I want to become a teacher when I grow up and I want to take care of my mother.”
