“Hiru developed an abscess on his right leg about a week ago,” shares our medical partner in Nepal, Possible. “It has been causing him pain since then and he has difficulty walking.”
Hiru is a six-year-old boy who lives with his grandma, mother, and two brothers in Nepal. His father works in India to support the family.
Because of his pain, Hiru must be carried around. This has made going to school difficult, and he has started skipping his classes. Without treatment, Hiru is at risk of developing infection and further complications.
Hiru’s father earns just enough to feed their family and cannot afford the necessary treatment. $220 in funding will cover the cost of proper wound treatment. “With incision and drainage, the abscess will clear and the hygienic dressing will allow the wound to heal well,” Possible explains.
After proper care, Hiru will finally be able to return to school. He will no longer be at risk of infection and will be able to walk without pain.
