Yakobo is a 15-year-old herder in Tanzania. He spends most of his time tending his father’s cattle and helping his father with other family responsibilities. His father is a pastoralist, and his mother takes care of the children. His father is the only breadwinner in the family, and he earns very little income to meet their day-to-day basic needs.
Yakobo has been diagnosed with bilateral genu valgus. Genu valgus is a condition in which the knees angle towards each other and touch. The condition causes him pain and difficulty walking.
If not treated, both his legs will continue to bend inward, making movement difficult for Yakobo. He will also continue experiencing pain.Thankfully, he is scheduled for treatment on April 25.
Yakobo’s treatment will cost $838. His family needs help raising this money.
Yakobo says, “I am in pain most of the time. Please help me get better. My family depends on me for help.”
