Ngor is a 50-year-old rice farmer. She has a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren. Her children are both married and have their own businesses. Ngor currently lives with her mother, and she enjoys spending her free time listening to the news on the radio.
Five years ago, Ngor developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her to experience irritation and blurred vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own.
When Ngor learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 5th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Ngor says, “After surgery, I hope my eye can see clearly again so I am able to work in the rice field and take good care of my mother.”
