Soeun is a 70-year-old mother of four from Cambodia. She has six grandchildren and enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in free time.
Five and a half years ago, Soeun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her vision loss, tearing, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Soeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for five and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 8, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope that after my surgery I will be able to go anywhere I want to on my own and can attend the ceremonies at the pagoda.”
