Chanthet is an 18-year-old factory worker from Cambodia. Chanthet has one brother and one sister, both are younger. His brother is a monk and his sister is a 2nd grade student. Chanthet’s father is a farmer and his mother sells vegetables at the market. In his free time Chanthet enjoys listening to classical music, reading books, meeting up with friends, and playing games on his phone. He also spends time helping his family on the farm and around the house.
Chanthet was born with polydactyly of his right hand. This means that he has an extra thumb. This makes it difficult for him to use his right hand and he is shy about his appearance.
Fortunately, on November 23rd, surgeons will perform a polydactyly repair procedure to safely remove his extra digit. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $256 to fund this procedure. After surgery, he will feel more comfortable and will be able to use his hand easily.
Chanthet said, “I hope this surgery will allow me to use my hand normally and feel comfortable around my friends and coworkers.”
