Houng is a 72-year-old married Cambodia woman. She has a large family, with six sons and ten grandchildren. In her free time, Houng likes to listen to the monks pray at the pagoda and look after her grandchildren.
Houng developed a cataract in her right eye about one year ago, causing her to have blurred vision, irritation, and tearing. This makes it difficult for her to see things clearly, do any type of work, and go anywhere outside by herself.
Houng traveled for two hours with her daughter to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment. Houng is scheduled to undergo cataract repair surgery on May 24, and CSC is requesting $153 to cover the total cost of the procedure.
After her recovery, Houng will be able to see clearly again and regain her independence.
