Lightness is a sweet, seven-month-old baby girl from Tanzania. She is the youngest of five children in her family. Her parents are small-scale farmers who depend on what they grow for the family's daily food. Her father also does casual laboring day jobs to help supplement their income. Lightness was born with a bend at her ankles and has been diagnosed with clubfoot of both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Her family needs financial assistance with her medical care and brought her to our medical partner's hospital. On July 5th, surgeons perform clubfoot repair surgery to help her walk easily as she grows. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $935 to fund this surgery. Lightness's mother said: "I was told through this program my baby's feet could be treated. Kindly help us if it is possible."

Seng Huor is an eight-year-old 3rd grader. He lives in Kandal province with his parents, who are rice and corn farmers. He loves playing hide and seek with his friends in the village and eating Cambodian noodle soup. In December 2016, a motorbike burned his right knee. At that time, his parents brought him to a local clinic where he was treated with skin grafts and wound care. Since then, scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin around his burn. He cannot fully bend his knee, making daily activities, including walking, more complex. When Seng Huor's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled there seeking treatment. On June 15th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve the mobility and function in his leg. Now, his needs help to fund this $495 procedure. His parents shared that they are hoping Seng Huor can walk easily again, this is a big hope they share for his treatment and future.

Savan is a 69-year-old retired rice farmer from Takeo province, Cambodia. She is single and has two older brothers and two older sisters. She used to live with her brother, who recently passed away, and now lives with a nephew who is a rice farmer and supports her living. At home, she cooks for the family, listens to the monks pray on the radio, and takes care of her grandnieces and grandnephews. About two years ago, Savan developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She can no longer walk to her local pagoda for prayers and feels lonely at home. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. When Savan learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On August 8th, doctors at CSC's care center will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Savan is able to contribute $50 to the cost of the surgery and is asking for help to raise the remaining $253 to fully fund the procedure. Savan said, "I hope after surgery, I can easily go out and recognize the faces of my family."
