Samnang is a 25-year-old tuk tuk driver from Cambodia. He has one daughter, and enjoys helping his wife with the housework in his spare time.
Since he was twelve years old, Samnang had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his left ear to perforate. For this reason, Samnang experiences ear discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. He has a difficult time communicating with and understanding others.
Samnang traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On May 14, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
He says, “I hope that surgery will improve my hearing and clear up the infection in my ear.”
