Mabugu is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She was widowed 25 years ago and left to raise six children.
30 years ago, Mabugu began to experience troubling symptoms, including a progressive cough and difficulty breathing and swallowing. She was diagnosed with a multi-nodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Mabugu receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 1 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Mabugu says, “I will continue with farming after surgery because I will be relieved of this condition.”
