Kakara is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is married with ten children. Her husband is a pastor.
14 years ago, Kakara began to experience troubling symptoms, including anterior neck swelling, heart palpitations, and fatigue. She was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Kakara receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on October 16 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Kakara says, “I will continue with cultivation when done surgery since I will be relieved of this condition and I am hoping for a better quality of life.”
