Ou is a 71-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two sons and two daughters, nine grandchildren, and enjoys going to the pagoda in her free time.
Three years ago, Ou developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, itchiness, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ou learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for half an hour seeking treatment. On June 11, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope that when my surgery is complete, I will be able to see more clearly than before and can return to my daily activities without any difficulty.”
