Tumuhairwe is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is married with seven children.
Some time ago, Tumuhairwe began to experience troubling symptoms, including a neck swelling associated with difficulty in swallowing and shortness of breath. She was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tumuhairwe receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on January 2 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Tumuhairwe says, “I hope to continue with farming when I am done with surgery.”
