Nwe is a wife and mother of two who lives near the Thai-Burma border. For the past three years, she hasn’t been able to work or support her family because of pain caused by a uterine myoma (a non-cancerous tumor in her uterus).
Nwe’s husband drives a bicycle rickshaw and her sons work as day laborers. Their family was already struggling to cover basic expenses because their income was seasonal, limited by the infamous Thai rainy season, but since Nwe stopped working, they’ve had to borrow money at high interest rates just to meet their minimum needs.
Nwe needs a hysterectomy to relieve her symptoms, but the cost of the procedure is far outside the reach of her husband and sons. Nwe plans to open a fruit shop once she is well, so let’s come up with the $880 she needs for surgery and help her get back to living her life!
