Savon is a 68-year-old rice farmer. He and his wife have one son and three daughters, as well as many grandchildren. Recently, Savon has experienced trouble with his vision, and does not work as much anymore. Instead, he spends most of his time taking care of his grandchildren. Throughout the day, he likes to take walks and listen to the news on his phone.
Three years ago, Savon developed a cataract in his left eye, causing blurry vision and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and completing daily tasks.
When Savon learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On August 12th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Children’s Surgical Center is requesting $229 for this procedure.
Savon shared, “I am hopeful that my vision can get better after the surgery, so I can see my whole family, and even work a little bit to help them.”
