Gerald is a baby boy from Kenya. His mother is a single parent and being under 18 years old, she is still under her parents’ national health insurance cover, but cannot include her child. She helps her mother in farming to grow some groceries and sell them for income. Her father works in farms for people to earn a small income that helps sustains their family.
Gerald was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. If left untreated, Gerald has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future.
Gerald will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 26th. AMHF is requesting $561 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
Gerald’s mother says, “I will be so happy to see Gerald treated.”
