Pov, a 56-year-old woman, works as a rice farmer alongside her husband. Together, they have three sons, two daughters, and seven grandchildren.
Two years ago, Pov developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. As a result, she has difficulty seeing clearly, recognizing faces, and going outside.
When Pov learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled three-and-a-half hours to seek treatment. On August 9th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, Pov will be able to see clearly again. Now, CSC is requesting $229 to fund this procedure.
Pov shared, “I hope after surgery my eye can see clearly so I can return to the rice field and do all my housework well.”

Pov underwent a sight-restoring cataract surgery.
Pov’s cataract surgery went well, and she’ll return to her province after surgeons are sure she has no complications in her healing. For several days, Pov will be resting and taking medications as she recovers. Pov hopes to be able to help on the farm to support and feed her family again.
Pov shares, “I am thankful for the ease and success of my operation, and hope that strangers will continue to help Cambodians who need help with their sight. This will improve my life so I can take care of myself and my family.”
