Meet Kirungi, a 37-year-old mother and primary school science teacher. She lives in Uganda with her husband and four young children.
Kirungi shares with our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, that she developed a tear in a sensitive area when she delivered her youngest child three years ago. If not treated, Kirungi is at risk of developing a serious infection.
On September 7, Kirungi undergo fistula repair surgery. The total cost of her surgery is $297, which includes a two-week hospital stay.
“I hope to have a peace of mind after my surgery. I will also go to a thanksgiving mass at church to express my gratitude,” says Kirungi.

Kirungi underwent fistula repair surgery.
Kirungi’s surgery was a success. The risk of infection has been eliminated. After recovery, Kirungi will be able to do her chores and resume her primary teaching.
She says, “I am now feeling much better…I am excited about my recovery. I feel my dignity is recovered. I am very grateful and appreciative to Watsi. I have nothing to give in return. God bless you I will always pray for Watsi keep up the spirit of helping.”
