Eng is a 62-year-old rice farmer. He is married and has one son, two daughters, and seven grandchildren. Both he and his wife are farmers. When not outside working, he enjoys listening to the news and to monks pray on the radio.
One year ago, Eng developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him light sensitivity, blurry vision, and eye tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own.
When Eng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On October 5th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and place an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
“I hope after surgery I can see better. I would like to go outside to visit our pagoda and return to the rice field to support my family,” says Eng.
