Channy is a 73-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is married with three sons, five daughters, and 23 grandchildren. In her free time, she likes to listen to monks pray at the pagoda and watch Khmer dramas on TV.
About two years ago, Channy developed a cataract in each eye. A cataract forms when the naturally-clear lens in the eye begins to cloud up. Due to her condition, she often experiences blurred vision, tearing, and pain. It has become difficult for her to see things clearly, recognize faces, do any type of work, or go anywhere outside.
Channy is now scheduled to undergo surgery on May 1. Doctors will remove the cloudy lens and replace it with an implant in each eye. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $292 to pay for the costs of this procedure.
After the operation, Channy is expected to make a full recovery and completely regain her vision.
