Yi is a 73-year-old retired rice farmer with one daughter, two sons, and three beautiful grandchildren. Her husband sadly passed away a long time ago. She now lives with her eldest daughter, who works as a laborer. Yi enjoys spending her time visiting the nearby pagoda and caring for her grandchildren.
Two years ago, Yi developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her to experience eye tearing and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own.
When Yi learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 6th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Yi says, “I hope my vision will improve enough so that I can get around on my own, take care of my grandchildren, and go back to visit the pagoda more.”

Yi underwent cataract surgery so she can see well again.
Yi assumed she would have poor vision for the rest of her life until she heard about CSC from neighbors who underwent similar surgery. Yi traveled to CSC hospital with her daughter and underwent successful surgery to remove her cataract. She rested for several days and applied eye drops to continue her healing. As a result of surgery, Yi’s life will improve because she can go back to doing the things she loves most: visiting the local pagoda and playing with her grandchildren.
Yi’s daughter said, “My mother is so much happier with better vision. She will be able to take walks with the children and go places by herself. Thank you to the donors and hospital staff who have made her life better. I would like to share that we are very grateful to you.”
