Komuhangi is a 51-year-old farmer from Uganda. Komuhangi is a married mother to five children, with three daughters all married and are small scale farmer. Her sons are all still in school studying. She studied and completed primary seven level, but never proceeded with school herself because her parents couldn’t afford to pay for further studies.
She currently earns a living from small-scale farming but often does manual jobs to earn additional income for their family because the money she earns from farming alone can’t sustain them as a family. Her husband is also a small-scale farmer.
For some time now, Komuhangi has been experiencing backache, bleeding, feels paralysis associated with persistent lower abdominal pain, and has headaches. She has been diagnosed with a cervical polyp. Doctors recommend she undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Komuhangi’s surgery. On September 15th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Komuhangi will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain and better support her family.
Komuhangi says: “I hope to get better once my surgery is done and I expect to have a normal new life after surgery to continue with farming after I have fully recovered.”
