Ngoeun is a 68-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has four daughters, two sons, and twenty-five grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her grandchildren and listening to the radio.
Five months ago, Ngoeun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ngoeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On January 2nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope that I will be able to see clearly so I can help my family take care of my grandchildren,” she said.
