Nhor is a mango farmer from Cambodia. She has two grandchildren and loves going to the Buddhist pagoda.
Ten years ago, Nhor developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision and discomfort. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Nhor learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 25, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I want to look after my grandchildren.”

Nhor underwent cataract surgery.
Nhor has returned home after a successful operation. As per her doctor’s instructions, she had one eye done, and will need to return in a few weeks to have surgery on the other eye. Nhor’s vision has been restored, and she will be able to work and go about his daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
She says, “I’m happy to go home and take care of my house and my grandchildren.”
