Kuoy is a 41-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She is from Kampong Speu Province, and in her free time she enjoys planting vegetables nearby the house.
Five years ago, Kuoy had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Kuoy experiences itchiness, discharge, hearing loss, and tinnitus. She is unable to hear properly, which affects her communication with others.
Kuoy traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On August 6, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
She says, “I hope that the ear infection and discharge will stop, and I will be able to hear again without any tinnitus.”
