Method is a 1-year-old boy from Tanzania. His mother is a stay-at-home mother, and his father is a motorcycle driver.
While Method was born a very healthy child, his mother recently noticed problems with her son’s breathing, especially when he was breastfeeding or sleeping. Method would often wake up in the middle of the night and cry due to difficulty breathing.
After being brought to our medical partner’s care center, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre (ALMC), Method was diagnosed with adenoid hypertrophy. With this condition, the adenoid tonsils grow enlarged to the point where they can obstruct airflow and where breathing through the nose requires an uncomfortable amount of work. Without treatment, Method will continue to have trouble breathing, will experience recurrent infections, and may even be unable to attend school.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $609 to fund an adenoidectomy to remove Method’s adenoids, which is scheduled to take place on June 8.
With this treatment, Method will be able to grow up breathing comfortably, free from difficulties eating or sleeping.
