Hel Tha Gal is a 17-month-old boy who lives with his parents in a village in Burma. His parents have lived in the village their entire lives and his father works as a day laborer on a farm collecting corn for the market.
Hel Tha Gal has been living with a hernia since he was born. His mother hoped that the swelling and pain would go away on their own, but they have only gotten worse with time. Seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Hel Tha Gal is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery on May 1. His family is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
“I feel sad to see my son cry, and since he was born, I cannot do anything,” Hel Tha Gal’s mother adds. “I just give my time to look after him and spend time at the hospital with him. I want him to be healthy and happy. His father and I love him so much as he is our first and the only son.”
