Sat is a 78-year-old loving grandmother from Prey Veng province. She has eight children and eighteen grandchildren. Since her husband passed away seven years ago, she has been living with her oldest daughter, who supports the family by working as a rice farmer. Sat enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and going to her local pagoda. One year ago, Sat developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and sensitivity to light. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus is unable to travel on her own. When Sat learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On March 7th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Sat said, "After surgery, I hope I can help my daughter more around the house and cook for my grandchildren."

Em is a 67-year-old rice farmer. He is from Kampong Cham province and has four sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren. He lives with his wife and daughters who plant rice with him. He likes to listen to the news on the radio and join local ceremonies at his village pagoda. One year ago, Em developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurry vision and photophobia. He is no longer able to drive because his vision has deteriorated so much. It is also difficult for him to work on his farm. When Em learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for six and a half hours seeking treatment. On December 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Em said: "I hope after surgery my eye will see clearly once again. I'll be able to drive my moto by myself and continue to work on my farm."

Meet Samnang, a 16-year-old from Cambodia. His name means "lucky" in Khmer. Samnang lives at home with his family and has three younger sisters. He recently started a job in construction with his dad. In November, Samnang fell while working and fractured his femur. His parents brought him to a local hospital, where the doctors stabilized the fracture. However, the hardware that was put in place to stabilize his femur has become infected. For the last three days, Samnang has had a fever and experiences pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On January 5th, Samnang will undergo a hardware removal procedure to reduce his pain and help him walk again. CSC is requesting $304 to fund this surgery. Samnang's family gathered $100 to contribute to his care. Samnang shared: "I hope I can feel better after this surgery."
