“Sarita was playing with her friends when she was pushed by one of her friends and she fell down. After the incident she developed pain and swelling in her right leg. She was unable to stand and could not walk,” shares Possible, our medical partner in Nepal.
Sarita is a four-year-old girl from Nepal who lives with her parents and three sisters. During her fall, she fractured her right tibia—the primary weight-bearing bone in the lower leg.
“The family is primarily involved in agriculture and the yield is enough for about six months in a year,” explains Possible. “This forces Sarita’s father to go to Indian towns to work as a wage laborer every couple of months.”
Sarita’s mother worries, “We cannot afford the cost of the treatment. Her father is in India now but we cannot spend so much to go there. We have nothing here.”
For $205, we can fund a treatment for Sarita’s fracture, allowing her to be able to stand and walk again. Possible anticipates that, “Sarita will be able to play with her friends. There will be no residual deformity and her growth will be normal.” Together, we can help Sarita get back on her feet!
