Visak is a five-year-old student from Cambodia. He has one sister and, in his free time, likes to play with toy cars and read in his notebook.
A motorbike engine fell on Visak a couple of years ago, burning his left knee. Burn scar contractures have developed, which refer to a tightening of the skin surrounding the burn. He was first treated by his mother at home and then went to a hospital in Phnom Penh for treatment, however his symptoms did not improve. It is now difficult for Visak to walk, and he experiences pain.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $448 to fund a burn contracture release surgery for Visak. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 21 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Visak to walk easily again.

Visak underwent burn repair surgery.
Visak’s treatment for his left knee went well. Following the procedure, he was given pain medication to take as needed and he had one week of physiotherapy at CSC before being discharged. His wound has healed nicely. Visak is now able to walk more easily than before.
Visak’s mother says, “Thanks to all of the doctors, staff, and donations that have helped my son. I am really happy that my son is doing better.”
