Ngun is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three daughters and ten grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio and participate in ceremonies.
One year ago, Ngun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her irritation, blurred vision, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ngun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On May 3, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I look forward to recognizing my loved ones faces again. I hope to lead an independent life.”
