Joshua is an elderly man from Kenya suffering from a cataract in his left eye. He is a father to seven children and is married. He lives in the semi arid areas of Kenya where he relies on subsistence farming. Joshua lives in a three roomed house made of mud and a grass thatched roof. His children have families but are not employed in formal businesses.
Joshua started complaining of partial eye loss in December 2015. He was taken to a local dispensary where he was given eye drops. However, the situation did not improve and so he was referred to our facility. He was diagnosed with a left eye cataract and surgery was recommended. He is not able to raise the amount needed for the treatment. Let us help Joshua.
For $230, Joshua will undergo cataract surgery, during which the cloudy lens in his eye will be replaced by an artificial, clear lens. His friends and family are subsidizing $52 of his surgery cost.
“I want to be able to see with more clarity again and enjoy my old age,” shares Joshua.
