Jonan is a six-year-old boy from Uganda. He lives with his father, Edward, and mother, Sylvia. His parents work as farmers to support their family, and his father also chops timber to bring in extra income.
Jonan has been diagnosed with malnutrition, a condition in which the body does not receive the proper nutrients to function optimally. His malnutrition has also resulted in a vitamin A deficiency, which has affected his eyesight. Seeking treatment, Sylvia traveled with Jonan to Bwindi Community Hospital, our medical partner’s care center.
On April 27, Jonan will begin treatment for his malnutrition. He will also receive vitamin A, which will stop the deterioration of his eyesight. His mother will be counseled on proper nutrition and attend cooking classes to learn how to create nutrient-rich meals for her son. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is asking for $316 to cover the cost of his care. Jonan’s family has contributed $1 towards his treatment.
“I thank the donors for helping with Jonan’s treatment,” says Sylvia. “It is a blessing, and I am so grateful for the help for my son.”
