Seven-year-old Tapesh lives in Nepal with his parents and siblings. His father often works in India to send money back to the family, while his mother stays at home to graze their cattle and look after the children. The yield from their field is only enough to support their family for about half of the year.
Tapesh was recently playing with his friends when he fell on the ground and fractured his left arm. His hand has gotten very swollen and causes him a lot of pain. Tapesh cries whenever his injured hand is touched, so he needs help with even simple tasks, such as eating and dressing.
“I am so worried about his hand,” Tapesh’s father says.
Tapesh and his family took an eight-hour car ride to reach Bayalpata Hospital, a center that works with our medical partner, Possible. On March 16, surgeons will perform an operation to surgically reposition the fractured bones in Tapesh’s arm, allowing them to heal in their proper place. $541 will fund this procedure, as well as important physiotherapy sessions that will ensure he regains full function of his arm.
