Chen is a 70-year-old grandfather who is married with three sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys listening to monks pray and reading books about Buddhism.
Three years ago, Chen developed a cataract in each eye. A cataract is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes progressively opaque. Because of this, Chen experiences blurry vision and tearing. Chen also has difficulty recognizing faces and navigating places outside.
Chen was introduced to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), by a fellow villager. The physicians at CSC recommend replacing the lenses with artificial ones, so he can see more clearly. On May 2, Chen will receive this procedure, and CSC is requesting $292 to help fund it.
After the procedure, Chen will be able to return to his favorite pastimes.
