Sok is a corn and sesame farmer from Cambodia. He has two sons, five daughters, and fifteen grandchildren. He likes to watch boxing matches and social programs on TV.
A year ago, Sok developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision, burning, itchiness, tearing, photophobia, and a clouded lens. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sok learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On September 10, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I hope my eye surgery is successful so I can return to work on my farm and also go about my life independently.”
