Saroeun is a 69-year-old motor taxi driver from Cambodia. He has two sons, three daughters, and twelve grandchildren. He enjoys listening the news with his wife at night.
Five years ago, Saroeun developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurry vision and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Saroeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three-and-a-half hours seeking treatment. On May 7th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Saroeun said, “Without my eyesight I cannot drive my motorbike and work to support my family. My grandchildren are sad that I cannot see them and play with them. After this surgery, I can do everything I want to do.”
