Khoun is a 65-year-old farmer from Cambodia. Alongside her hustand, she plants peanuts. They have four children and ten grandchildren. When she has free time she likes watching dramas on TV or getting together with her neighbors.
Six years ago, Khoun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Khoun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On June 8th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Khoun said, “After surgery I want to have clear vision again so that I can help my husband in the work in my farm. I also want to be able to see my grandchildren so I can take care of them and see them grow.”
