Barkonal is an adorable 5-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves to walk and spend time with his father. And, he also loves to play with car toys. He looks up to his two older brothers. His mom has been looking for work, but not able to find a job. His dad is a truck driver and assigned to work far from home in Addis Ababa. He brought his family to Addis and they rented a one room house in the suburb while looking for a cheaper house to rent. All of their children are enrolled in the government school and their father’s income is dedicated to supporting the basic needs of the family.
Since at least two years ago, Barkonal has had left inguinal hernia. They have waited for medical treatment for a long time and, fortunately, on March 22nd, Barkonal will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $512 to fund Barkonal’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
His mom shared: “I hope he will get the surgery and heals. I hope he will grow fearing God and respect his father who is struggling from desert to desert to support his family. I pray he will be a good person who loves and helps others who are in need. I believe he will accomplish a lot in life.”
