Twikirize is a small business owner from Uganda. She is a mother of three children, aged between 8 and 3, and is now expecting twins. Twikirize studied up to college level, obtaining a certificate in nursing. However, she left her profession after being married and started a small retail shop. Her husband is a school teacher but, due to Covid-19, he has been unable to work. Their family relies on her shop to meet their daily needs. During her free time, she enjoys working on her shop and caring for her family.
Twikirize has been receiving antenatal care at a health centre near her home. On February 12th, she started feeling minor pains at home and opted to visit Rushoroza Hospital. Now, doctors have recommended a cesarean section due to malpresentation of both twins. If her babies are not delivered via a c-section, both she and the children are at risk. Twikirize is not able to pay for the cost of surgery and appeals for help.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Twikirize undergo a safe c-section on February 14th. This procedure will cost $207 and Twikirize needs your support.
Twikirize shared, “I pray that I may be blessed with healthy children through surgery. I will resume my business as soon as possible to be able to sustain my family.”
