Nhuob is a 43-year-old rice farmer. He lives alone and is supported by his older brother. Nhuob has two sons and one daughter but his children live with his ex-wife. Nhuod no longer works in the rice fields due to limited vision and spends much of his time listening to the radio at home now.
Two years ago, Nhuob developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him to slowly lose his vision. He feels like there is a film covering his eye.
When Nhuob learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On March 8th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
He shared, “I hope I can see anything clearly again after surgery. I want to farm in the rice fields or find a job to support my living, so my brother doesn’t have to support me.”

Nhuob underwent eye surgery so he can see clearly.
Nhuob had difficulty working outside due to the side effects of his cataract. This was hard for him because he had to rely on his brother to support him. He pays school fees and expenses for his children and had no money when he could not work. Fortunately, his surgery was successful! He is delighted to now be able to work outside again in the rice paddies and looks forward to helping his brother reap a productive harvest this year. His improved vision will help his children, and improve his self-esteem.
Nhuob said: “It will be easier for me to manage the farm with help from my brother. My eyesight has improved so I can be useful to my family and support my own living. Thank you to the people who paid for me to have this surgery so I can see well again!”
