28-year-old Apophia is a tall, confident, and intelligent lady, who lives with her family in Uganda. She and her husband have two young children. While Apophia had aspired to be a nurse, she was only able to complete her primary education. She now operates a small tailoring workshop in her village, while her husband is a shopkeeper attendant.
For the last six months Apophia has been experiencing on-and-off episodes of abdominal discomfort and other troubling symptoms. When she visited the doctor, she was diagnosed with a large, dermoid cyst, and she was advised to have surgery to heal.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Apophia to access the care that she needs. On April 4th she will undergo a cystectomy at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. Now Apophia needs your help to raise $220 to cover the costs of her treatment and care.
Apophia says: “I hope I will get healed and will no longer feel pain once I am operated on.”
