Balyayera is a four-year-old boy from Uganda. He has three sisters and lives with his paternal grandmother, who works as a farmer in order to pay for Balyayera’s school fees. Balyayera is in nursery school and dreams of being a doctor when he grows up.
Since birth, Balyayera has been experiencing an occasional swelling in his right inguinal scrotal region that is associated with lower abdominal pain. He was diagnosed with a left inguinal scrotal hernia at a regional hospital, however they refused to operate on him because of his young age.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to cover the cost of Balyayera’s hernia repair surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 29 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Balyayera to live comfortably, stop missing school, and develop along a healthy trajectory.
