Sok Meng is an eighth grader from Cambodia. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up and enjoys playing sports with her friends.
When she was four years old, Sok Meng accidentally put her hand in boiling water, burning her hand and fingers. Burn scar contractures have developed, making it difficult to bend her fingers and hand. It’s very difficult for her to write in school, since she’s naturally right-handed.
When Sok Meng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On October 5, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to to improve function in her hand. Now, she needs help to fund this $448 procedure.
Her mother says, “I hope my daughter can stay in school.”
