Sekito is a six-year-old boy who lives in Uganda with his two siblings. His mother is a casual laborer who performs mainly odd jobs, such as weeding and digging in people’s farms, in order to make ends meet.
Sekito was brought to the hospital by his mother with complaints of umbilical swelling that developed in his early childhood, along with intermittent pain. The doctors diagnosed him with a hernia, and surgery was recommended. If not treated, Sekito may suffer tissue damage as a result of hernia strangulation.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, has requested $219 to fund Sekito’s procedure. The surgery is scheduled to take place on September 7 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Sekito to live comfortably and grow to be a healthy young man.
“I hope to have peace of mind once I see my child without this predicament and he becomes comfortable around others. I will continue caring for my family to make it thrive,” shares Sekito’s mother.
