Yingsin is a 58-year-old fisherman from Cambodia. He is married and has three sons, four daughters, and 20 grandchildren. In his free time, Yingsin likes to go to the pagoda to listen to monks pray, participate in ceremonies, and visit his relatives.
About two years ago, Yingsin developed a cataract in each eye. The cataracts have caused him to develop blurred vision, cloudy lenses, and an extreme sensitivity to light, in turn making it difficult for Yingsin to see things clearly, work, and go anywhere on his own.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $398 to fund a phaco procedure and intraocular lens implant in each of Yingsin’s eyes. Together, these procedures will remove the cataracts and replace Yingsin’s natural lenses with artificial ones, all with the aim of restoring Yingsin’s vision to its former state and improving his quality of life.
