Vuoch is a 70-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has five grandchildren, and in his free time he likes to read and listen to the monks pray on the radio.
Five months ago, Vuoch developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him cloudy and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Vuoch learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 10, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I hope that I will be able to see clearly so I can go anywhere outside on my own and can return to the pagoda.”
