Ritchina is a 7-month-old baby girl from Haiti. She lives with both of her loving parents and her older brother. Ritchina has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her condition, Ritchina has been experiencing increasing head circumference. Without treatment, Ritchina will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Ritchina at Hospital Bernard Mevs that will treat her hydrocephalus. This is the only site in the country where this care is currently available and the procedure is scheduled to take place on January 4th. This critical treatment will drain the excess fluid from Ritchina's brain to reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve her quality of life. With proper treatment, Ritchina will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young girl. Her parents are hopeful that surgery will allow their child to grow up healthy.

Dalis is a 12-year-old student from Cambodia. She is from a family of four in Banteay Meanchey province. Her mother works in a clothing factory and her father drives a tuk-tuk taxi. Her favorite subjects are Khmer and mathematics. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher. She likes to eat fried rice, and during her free time, she enjoys bowling with her father. Four years ago, Dalis developed a painful ganglion cyst in her left foot. A ganglion cyst is a benign, jelly-like sac that forms beneath the skin on the top or bottom of the foot. The cyst causes her pain, and she cannot walk properly due to the pain. If it grows too large, it can limit her ability to walk to school or ride her bike. Dalis traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On April 4th, surgeons at Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Her family is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise an additional $273 to fund the procedure. Dalis' mother shared, "We hope that our daughter will have no pain and can do daily activities after the surgery."

Rossette is a 35-year-old housewife from Uganda. Her husband works in a retail shop and supports his wife as she has not been able to find a job. During her free time, Rossette enjoys visiting her friends. Rossette is currently expecting her first child. She received antenatal care at Rushoroza Hospital, where her doctors recommended that she deliver via a Cesarean section because of breech presentation at term. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Rossette undergo a C-Section on March 1st. This procedure will cost $214 and Rossette needs your support. Rosette says, “I hope I will have a successful surgery with a positive outcome. After complete recovery, I will continue to search for a job. May God bless you.”
